Cultural Heritage

Our indigenous crafts reflect the rich traditions and artistry of the Ngobe community, supporting their culture and providing sustainable livelihoods through beautifully crafted souvenirs.

Supporting the community

The Ngobe Indigenous Community has a rich tradition of crafting unique, handmade items such as bags (Chakras), paper from tree bark, sombreros made of palm leaves, baskets and jicaras. These products take significant time and skill to create—like a medium-sized Chakra bag, which requires two weeks of work, using colors sourced from the jungle.

Unfortunately, many younger members of the community are losing interest in these traditions, as they don’t see them as trendy. By purchasing these crafts, you play an important role in preserving this rich cultural heritage, ensuring that the skills are passed down to future generations. Every purchase helps support the community and keep their traditions alive.
